![]() ![]() ![]() This needs to be done while the green colored icon is still showing otherwise it will be to late and you will get struck, resetting your combo meter back to zero. This icon means that you can counter their attack by hitting the button. While fighting a group of enemies you will sometimes notice a green colored icon above a melee enemies head. As you build up your combo meter the amount of damage you inflict will increase. When in combat you will attack in whichever direction you are facing. Will use one charge of your artifact if you have one equipped. Will use your weapons ability if it has one. You can only counter if you have a shield equipped. Will attack with whatever weapon you have equipped. Will perform a shield bash if you have a shield equipped or a kick if you do not. You dodge in whichever direction you are moving in, or, if you are standing still the direction you are facing. In endless mode a shops inventory is limited only by what equipment cards you have unlocked.Ĭombat in Hand of Fate is very straightforward. One thing to note though is that the items available inside a shop are limited by what equipment cards you have included in your deck. Keep in mind that every step you take uses up food. ![]() You can also reshuffle the items inside of a shop by exiting the shop, going back one space, and then reentering the shop. This is useful when looking for a specific piece of equipment required to complete an achievement, or to meet the requirements of an encounter card. Just make sure you dashboard out before exiting the shop, otherwise, the game will save upon leaving the shop. You can also use this to reshuffle the items available inside a shop card. Do not go into the games pause menu and forfeit out as this will end your playthrough. This allows you to retry that encounter card to get the result you are looking for. Once you load the game back up, you will be placed on the card prior to the encounter you are trying to complete. If you are having a hard time passing an encounter, before the encounter completes you can dashboard out(hit the guide button), hit the menu button, and quit out of the game. This allows you to do a couple of a different things to help your achievement hunting along. The way the save system works in Hand of Fate is it saves your progress after completing each encounter card. At the very least until you have unlocked a good portion of the cards and have gotten used to the games mechanics and combat. I would suggest using the default fate Adventurer through most, if not all, of story mode. Each fate offers its own set of rules and its own individual card chains leading to an achievement which I discuss in detail on the DLC walkthrough page. The default mode fate is now known as the Adventurer. They are the Shadow Agent, Soldier's Training, Nomad, Iron Hunger, Curse of the Lion Prince, Explorer's Gift, Merchant Guard, Hoarder's Desire, and the Monk. With the Wildcards DLC they added a whopping nine more fates that you can play as. ![]() There are a few exceptions and I will go over those in the Story Mode walkthrough. An important thing to note about the Apprentice fate is that most achievements are disabled whilst playing as this fate. These two are also known as easy mode and hard mode. With the two title updates two new fates were added. You will also have the opportunity to change which fate you play through the level as. I will go into greater detail about endless mode in the Endless Mode and Mop Up section.īefore you begin each story level, except the first one, you will have the opportunity to edit both your equipment deck and your encounter deck. Endless mode, as its name suggests, has an unlimited number of floors of increasing difficulty that utilizes every equipment and encounter card that you have unlocked, as well as numerous cards from the dealers deck. The exception to this is endless mode, which you will unlock after completing the first story levels. In each playthrough you will lead your character through two- floors attempting to find that levels boss. It combines elements of a collectible card game, a roguelike, an action/adventure RPG, and a choose your own adventure game all rolled into one. ![]()
